Day after Day,
Night after Night,
Searching for relief
No matter how slight.
The mind
races forward
From thought to thought
Until it stumbles and falters
From its own heavy onslaught.
Forcing
the body down
For a two hour rest.
Can't think at all rationally
But it seems for the best.
How long
has this been?
One whole month? Two?
Time and its cohesiveness have
Somehow lost its glue.
Turn
the television on.
Turn the television off.
Startled by the chimes
Of the grandfather clock.
Dreaming
of sleep
In a wide-awake state.
Wandering through thoughts
Of new prayers to make.
So tired,
it's painful,
This unrelenting curse.
And without respite
It can only get worse.
Rising
from the bed
Confusion seems louder.
Work disconnected legs toward
An un-refreshing glass of water.
There's
no denying now
It's no longer controlled.
Some help will be needed to
Put life back in its mold.
Searching
for relief
No matter how slight.
After Day, After Day,
After Night, After Night.
