About Laurel
I have been a quilter since the early 90's. My love of quilting began with a love of fabric and a desire to help others. A group of ladies where I worked made tied quilts for the kids at the Salvation Army Children's Shelter. It looked like fun so I joined in. With their guidance, I learned the basics of piecing. I was also given the opportunity to provide many children with much needed comfort and love that only a quilt can bring. My love of quilting continued and so did my knowledge and skills when I took several classes and also joined a local quilt guild.
Over time, quilting became my passion and eventually, a way of life. I owned and operated my own quilt shop called I'd Rather Be Quilting from 2003, right after my youngest daughter was born, to 2008. After closing the shop I continued to quilt in my spare time, but due to financial reasons, I had to go back to work full time. In 2010, my husband and I decided to take a leap of faith and I quit my full time job. Being a mom to our 2 girls was more important than bringing home an extra pay check. We put our full faith and trust in God to provide what we needed and it was the best decision we ever made. I opened All About Quilting in September of 2010 to help pay the bills and to still be a full time mom to our girls. My shop hours are around my children's school and activity schedules.
All About Quilting focuses not on selling fabric and quilting supplies, but providing quality quilting services. In 2015, I added T-Shirt quilts to my list of services offered. All professional long-arm quilting is done using a Gammill long-arm quilting machine.
Please vist my Gallery and my Facebook page for more detailed pictures of these quilts and others that I've either made and/or have quilted.
