Benefits of Yoga
Yoga has many layers and there are many reasons why people try yoga. The benefits of yoga are . . .
- Increased strength, endurance and flexibility
- Better balance, stability and agility
- Yoga postures not only work muscles but they also increase blood flow to your internal organs, which enhances function and detoxification as well as reduces inflammation.
- Because the primary focus of yoga is on breathing and it incorporates numerous breathing techniques, yoga can reduce stress and the symptoms of chronic stress disorders such as high blood pressure, ADHD, chronic neck and back aches and better sleep.
Yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning union or joining. It involves practices that bring us to the direct experience of that state of being within. It is NOT A RELIGION but a personal practice. You can be of any faith or background and practice yoga and bring your experience into your practice.
We are attracted to particular paths and branches of yoga depending on our needs. Yoga is more than only postures. A yoga practice includes Asana (postures), Dharana (concentration), Pranayama (breath) and Dhyana (meditation).
