| SECURITY
Huntington Village
employs the services of Mac-Dan Security for patrolling our sub-division
on a weekly 45-hour work schedule. These hours scheduled will vary
from week to week and will target different areas or streets having
a history of crime based on experience, the monthly statistics from
the HPD, and the input of residents. More
information.
Please help reduce crime in our neighborhood by contacting the office 281-495-7280
or calling Captain Cerna at 832-275-6666 to report any suspicious
activity in your neighborhood. Please provide the address, description
of vehicles with license plate numbers, frequent visitation of strangers
to specific houses, unusual number of cars parked at the same residence,
or frequent party activity in driveway, front yard, or open garage.
When you see
any activity that is very serious and warrants immediate attention
from HPD, you should dial 911 to report the crime
in progress. Crime prevention recommendations:
- Park your vehicles in the garage when possible. Keep your garage door closed
at all times. When you leave the house, work in the back yard, or
in the garage, lock exterior door dead bolts and windows.
Daytime burglaries are common, even when people are at home.
- Maintain a strong board fence around back portion of house and yard.
Lock the gates to prevent access to the back of your home. Keep
shrubbery trimmed short around doors and windows to eliminate hiding
places for burglars or prowlers.
- Install dusk-to-dawn lighting
around perimeter of house or a combination of motion detector lighting
covering front and back of house. Install a security system and
have it monitored on a 24-hour basis.
- Install a security system in all vehicles. Cover any valuables left in car. Avoid parking vehicles on the street.
- Keep a record of the model and serial numbers of television sets,
computers, DVD Players, Stereo Systems, weapons, etc. Keep valuable
collections such as stamp, jewelry, coins, etc. in a safe deposit
box rather than at home.
- Become acquainted with neighbors that you can trust and notify in case of an emergency. Be willing to reciprocate by watching their home. Never leave notes that can inform
a burglar that you are not home. Arrange for someone to pick up
your mail, newspaper, or mow the grass when you leave town for a
few days.
- Be friendly and inquisitive of strangers observed walking
in the neighborhood. This can lead to developing a network of friendships.
However, be cautious about door-to-door solicitation or strange
surveys that might be a way for potential burglars to check out
the houses where people are not home.
- Observe the neighborhood carefully, get the license plate numbers, and report all suspicious persons and vehicles to the police. Report any crime to police,
cooperate with officers investigating, and be willing to testify
about what you have witnessed.
